Objectives

Aim of the project is to bring a change on how road safety programs and initiatives are implemented in schools in Europe, by strengthening the profiles of the teaching profession on road safety issues.  Teachers will play an important role in integrating road safety issues in the school curriculum, by engaging parents and affect students attitudes. Moreover, the project aims to design, develop and validate an innovative professional development program for teachers.

KROS project proposes the use of innovative resources provided from different stakeholders (open content) through a project-based multidisciplinary approach (open pedagogy), that requires extended collaboration and networking between  schools and different stakeholders (open collaboration) who can bring significant expertise in the design and implementation of the proposed activities.

KROS will introduce cutting edge technologies in order to accompany the retention of information regarding the subject of road safety. More in particular, the project will use virtual reality technologies so as to introduce attractiveness in the learning process and secondly to improve the quality of the delivery channels of the content.

The project wishes to support activities that implement best practices and tools for professionals working with and for children in communicating in away adapted to their age and stages of development and thus improve the quality of teaching and learning in the classroom while endorsing innovative methods and digital integration in teaching.

The KROS pedagogical framework promotes a holistic school approach that includes: Integration to the school curriculum, parental engagement & support, school ethos and organization.

The objectives of the project are:

  • Improve  teachers awareness on road safety issues & strengthen their professional profile
  • Improve teachers professional skills enabling them to integrate road safety principles  and best practices into their lessons
  • Deploy an innovative online educational Road Safety Platform
  • Develop an network of pilot schools which will act  as living labs of the KROS approach
  • Develop and pilot a systematic validation methodology that could identify the effectiveness and efficiency  of the intervention
  • Develop a Road Safety Academy
